Scupper

A scupper is a drainage hole in the side of a boat or ship that allows water to flow off the deck and overboard. Scuppers are typically located near the edge of the deck, and they are often equipped with a grating or other type of opening that helps to keep out debris. In addition to draining water from the deck, scuppers can also be used as an emergency escape route. If a boat begins to take on water, crew members can climb up to the scupper and jump overboard. While scuppers are a vital part of any vessel, they can also be a source of leakage if they are not properly maintained. As such, it is important to regularly check and clean scuppers to ensure that they are functioning properly.
